Twenty-five years of product development and operations experience. Leadership roles at Verily Life Sciences (founding member), Google[x], Google, Acclarent/JnJ, and Guidant/Boston Scientific. BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

Twenty-five years of medical device engineering and operations experience. Held leadership roles in engineering and manufacturing at Heartport, Johnson & Johnson, Concentric Medical and Stryker Neurovascular. BS in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University.

Executive level Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research professional with over 30 years of experience and expertise. Former Senior Vice President/Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research for Conceptus and Kyphon.

Laparoscopic surgery has revolutionized modern surgery

Reduced postoperative pain, less visible scarring, and shortened recovery time are generally recognized as some of the benefits of MIS procedures compared to conventional surgery.

With increasing surgeon experience, laparoscopic surgery has undergone many refinements, including reduction in port size and number of ports. These refinements can be associated with technical challenges. As a result, developing novel instrumentation such as the Levita Magnetic Surgical System to mitigate the limitations of conventional laparoscopic instruments is critical.
Levita® Magnetic Surgical System

The shaftless Levita System reduces the number of incisions and dedicated trocars for better cosmetic outcomes. The Levita System enables reduced-port laparoscopic techniques.

  • Shaft removed from trocar after delivery and application of Grasper Tip
  • Positioned externally on abdominal wall to magnetically attract Grasper Tip intra-abdominally
  • Maneuvered across abdominal wall to achieve desired retraction
  • Detachable distal tip grasps target tissue and provides unprecedented shaftless magnetic retraction
  • No fixed pivot point: Movement and retraction angles not constrained by trocar or its location

The Magnetic Surgical System is indicated in the U.S. to grasp and retract the body and the fundus of the gallbladder in laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the liver in bariatric procedures and the prostate and periprostatic tissue in prostatectomy procedures to facilitate access and visualization of the surgical site in patients with a BMI range of 20 to 60 kg/m2.
